During spring 2005 an extraordinary jam session took place: the VVG trio played a concert at L'Archiduc in Brussels with Jozef Dumoulin. The musicians new that Magic Malik, a rising star known from his contribution with St Germain Boulevard, played some concerts in Brussels in this period. A few telephone calls lured Magic to the L'Archiduc to play a concert together. This meeting turned out so nice that now an exclusive JAZZLAB tour followed with this extraordinary company.
This session was recorded! Together with somes studio recordings made by the trio, it was released in April 2006 as a double album In Orbit.
Two years ago the VVG trio, Vansina-Verbruggen-Gudmundsson, took shape. With the necessary ambition and some healthy recklessness this combo made almost immediately it's first recordings during ten concerts in cafe Buster in Antwerp, resulting in there debut album Trio Music. During these concerts the trio went looking for it's proper sound and interpretation of jazz. A mix between standards, originals (Bruno Vansina) and free improvisation contained the right ingredients for Bruno, Teun and Gulli.
Constantly looking for challenges, they aim high: under the wings of Rosas they bring in autumn '05 Double Trio, a confrontation with three dancers, with whom they also appear at IMPULZTANZ Festival summer '06. Spring '06 the trio tours with the JazzLab Series with special guest Jozef Dumoulin and Magic Malik. The love for improvised music is the binding element between three musicians and two exclusive guests.
