At age 21, Ernst VRANCKX decides to enlarge his musical studies and inscribed to the Antwerp Jazz-Studio and from there, moved onwards to the conservatory in Brussels.
Two years later he obtained 1st prize for jazz-piano.
In '92, in Maastricht, he received "a special citation for outstanding musicianship" awarded by the International Association of Jazz Educators.
In '94 he obtained, with his quartet, the Prix Nicolas Dor, performing at the Liège festival.
Ernest VRANCKX worked together with Kenny WHEELER, John RUOCCO, Bert JORIS and is currently part of the Chris JORIS Experience quintet.
He toured in jazz clubs around the Benelux countries, France, Germany and Sweden.?His festivals appearances include

• Uppsala Winterswing (Sweden)
• Maubeuge (France)
• and Liège


As of '93 he teaches piano and harmony at the Ghent conservatory and the Jazz-Studio in Antwerp.
